AMC chief executive officer Adam Aron is pondering whether the cinema chain should accept payments in Shiba Inu (SHIB) as the memecoin barges into the top 10 crypto assets by market cap.
In a new poll, Aron asks his 199,500 Twitter followers whether AMC should also accept SHIB as a payment option for ticket purchases.
“As you know, you can now purchase AMC gift cards using cryptocurrency, and our IT group is writing code so that soon we can accept online payments in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Dogecoin among others. Should we strive to take Shiba Inu too?”
Out of the 135,664 votes, an overwhelming 86.5% said that AMC should accept SHIB.
In September, Aron conducted a similar Twitter poll asking fans if the movie giant should accept payments in DOGE. Nearly 77% of those surveyed said yes, and the CEO responded with an announcement weeks later saying that customers would now be able to purchase gift cards using cryptocurrencies, including DOGE, and use them at AMC venues.
AMC previously said they will start accepting crypto assets such as Ethereum (ETH) Litecoin (LTC), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) by the end of 2021.
SHIB recently overtook Dogecoin as the ninth-largest crypto by market cap after a week that saw the token surge to a new all-time high of $0.00008616, according to CoinGecko.
Shiba Inu has since corrected and is exchanging hands at $0.00006586 at time of writing.
